+# ESM data api gateway
+
+The ESM data API gateway is used to perform the necessary request forwarding to the ESM data sources at various projects in the data-centers. 
+
+The gateway's server-side code is used to perform the necessary mangling of requests to match the data-center's needs. 
+
+The request is essentially, only forward to the home data-center where the necessary look-up(s) and fetching of data is performed. 
+
+The user, hence only require the knowledge of the data-center, project and name of the dataset required instead of entire URLs. 
+
