This issue is for discussing the meta data requirements for memman.

• One aspect is about the work from Aparna:

  • In one of the previous ICON all-hands meetings (2024 10 28 All Staff) Aparna announced her need for ICON meta data for her work. This subject was also relevant for the granule-support. This pad covers the current concept behind it.
  • The concept proposes named constants for each data dimension of a variable and thus establishes dimensional semantics in form of a dimid vector of size 5.
  • Suitable inquiry functions could be provided to derive practical properties from this vector, e.g., the effective rank or the position of a certain physical dimension (see above pad for details) to address the dimensional order problem of Aparna.
